Parinama Sutras, (I may have to become a Chameleon )- as all things change.

One of the easiest teachings to voice, but one of the hardest to deal with, is that everything changes.

We all understand that things change, in fact quite often we pray for it, hope for it, and bank on it.!

But alongside that, we know that to take on something new we must let go of something old. Something that’s familiar, something we know well.

Something that comforts us.

Even our pain can, and is, sometimes familiar enough, to give us some form of comfort and we cling to it.

We love our habits even if they aren’t good ones.

Allowing change without trying to hold on to the familiar is not easy to do.

We hold onto our comfort places for safety, “this is how it is” “it’s always been this way,” “this is how we’ve always done it.”

And of course our belief in that what worked well before, will always work well again.

There’s a lot of value to be had in experience, but if everything changes then that includes time change, environment, ability, equipment, opportunity, and in fact us, then yes, we do learn from experience but what worked well before will have to be adapted to fit into our present, we have to change colour to let things fit.

We have to become adaptable.

We hold onto the idea that things need to stay the same so that we are safe, but there’s no safety in this, we are mistaken.

It’s one of our biggest misunderstandings.

Believing that things stay the same is an illusion, it’s a  part of avidya our ignorance and misapprehension, part of the suffering we continue to create for ourselves.

Change can be scary, we fear it, and we long for it, yet still we try to hold it back.

But why?, when we are only one step away, one turn of a coin, one word spoken, and we could allow ourselves to embrace it and we can reduce our own suffering.

Like everyone else change makes me nervous, I want the moments of my life that are joyful to stay, those moments that happen when we wish if only life could stay like this forever.!

But we know that’s impossible, the Parinama Sutras tell us that all things change, that’s the truth, we either embrace it or we suffer.

So part of our practise, away from the mat, is to embrace change, not hide from it. But blend with it, move with it, mould ourselves round it.

And we aren’t talking about one big change here, and then another, one big event to the next, these aren’t necessarily big events, from the tiny to the huge, change is a constant.

You can long for change now, and it will happen, but  of course it won’t stay it will change again.

Everything is flowing, nothing is constant.

So a practise, a bhavana, a way of becoming,

I’m thinking of visualising myself as a chameleon, every time I feel myself trying to stop change from happening, which is inevitable, I will just take a deep breath, stay still, wait for my colour to change to fit my environment, in a way that will keep me safe and prevent me from suffering or causing anyone else’s suffering.

Even as I say it my ego kicks in, “ but this is not you” and it lists all the things that I believe make me, Me!

Scary!

So it turns out my ego doesn’t want me to embrace change, it wants me to hold on to the things it believes make me who I am.

But my ego isn’t me and it isn’t who I am……………

So I’m thinking of visualising myself as a chameleon and let’s see how it goes……..

Parinama – Yoga sutra Chapter 2 verse 15.

For a wise and discriminating person, all experiences are ultimately suffering, due to pain from CHANGE, anxiety/craving, underlying conditioning, and the conflicting activities of the gunas.

Now considering whether the post would translate well into a different form, and a look at radiantfieldcollective suggested similar versatility, content that could move into other media without losing its substance is content that has been built around ideas rather than around format and this site reads as idea first throughout posts.

Now realising this site has been quietly doing good work for longer than I knew, and a look at futurecartcorner suggested an archive worth exploring, sites with deep archives of consistent quality represent a different kind of resource than sites with viral hits and this one looks like the durable kind based on what I see.

Reading this slowly because the writing rewards a slower pace, and a stop at blossompinecollective did the same, the pace at which I read content is something I now use as a quality signal and writing that earns a slower pace earns my attention as a reader looking for substance these days.

  4. Josiahreeve Avatar

Reading this slowly and letting each paragraph land before moving on, and a stop at swiftpickcenter earned the same patient approach, content that rewards slow reading rather than speed is content with real density and the writers here are clearly producing work that benefits from the careful eye rather than the rushed scan.

A genuinely unexpected highlight of my reading week, and a look at silverlaneemporium extended that pattern, the surprise of finding excellent content rather than the predictable mediocre is one of the few real pleasures of casual web browsing and this site delivered that surprise cleanly today which I really do appreciate.

  6. GregoryVew Avatar

Quietly the post solved something I had been turning over without quite knowing how to phrase the question, and a look at radiantfieldcollective extended that quiet solving, content that addresses unformulated needs is content with reader insight and this site has demonstrated that insight at a high rate across the pieces I have read recently.

Approaching this site through a casual link click and being surprised by what I found, and a look at dynamicpickhub extended the surprise, the rare experience of stumbling into excellent independent content rather than predictable mediocrity is one of the actual remaining pleasures of casual web browsing and this site provided it cleanly.

Thanks for keeping things clear and to the point, that is honestly hard to find online these days, and after reading through amberlanecollective the message stayed consistent which makes me trust the information being shared more than I usually do on similar pages that cover this same kind of topic.

  9. RossAlads Avatar

Really nice to see things explained without overcomplicating the topic, the words flow naturally and stay easy to follow, and a short visit to silverlaneemporium only added to that experience because the same simple approach is used across the rest of the page too without any change in tone.

  10. GregoryVew Avatar

Now I want to find more sites like this but I suspect they are rare, and a look at radiantfieldcollective extended that thought, the few sites that meet this quality bar are precious specifically because they are rare and finding others like them is one of the ongoing projects of careful internet curation across the years.

  11. ChrisDreag Avatar

Appreciate the thoughtful approach, the writer clearly took time to make this readable for someone who is not already an expert, and a look at futurecartcorner kept that going nicely, easy on the eyes and easy on the brain which is always a winning combination when reading on a busy day.

A piece that prompted a small mental rearrangement of how I order related ideas, and a look at echohollowmarket extended that rearranging effect, content that affects the structure of my thinking rather than just adding to it is content with the deepest kind of impact and this site is reaching that depth for me today.

  13. Juliusexoto Avatar

Bookmark folder reorganised slightly to make this site easier to find, and a look at copperpetalmarket earned the same accessibility upgrade, the small organisational moves I make for sites I expect to return to often are themselves a signal of how much I trust them and this site triggered those moves naturally.

  14. TomAdade Avatar

Picked this for my morning read because the topic seemed worth the time, and a look at infinitygoodsstation confirmed the choice was right, my morning reading slot is precious and giving it to this site felt like a good investment rather than a waste which is a higher endorsement than I usually offer for content.

  15. GregoryVew Avatar

Now considering carefully how to share this site with the right audience rather than broadcasting widely, and a look at radiantfieldcollective extended that careful sharing impulse, content worth sharing carefully rather than spamming is content that has earned a higher kind of recommendation and this site has earned that careful shareability throughout pieces.

  16. JonathanInons Avatar

Decided to set a calendar reminder to revisit, and a stop at blueharborcrafts extended that revisit list, calendar entries for content are a level of commitment I rarely make but when I do they signal a higher regard than a simple bookmark and this site has earned that calendar tier of relationship from me today.

  17. JasonVeila Avatar

Reading this slowly in the morning before opening email, and a stop at urbanfernmarket extended that protected attention, content that earns the prime morning reading slot before the daily distractions begin is content with elevated status and this site has earned that prime slot consistently in my recent reading habits clearly.

Bookmark added without hesitation after finishing, and a look at futurecartcorner confirmed I should bookmark the homepage too rather than just this page, the rare site that earns category level trust rather than just single article approval is the kind I want to rely on across many different topics over time.

  20. ShaunNog Avatar

Recommended without reservation for anyone interested in the topic at any level of expertise, and a look at echohollowmarket only strengthens that recommendation, this site clearly knows how to serve readers across a range of backgrounds without watering down the content or talking past anyone in the audience which is genuinely impressive to see.

  21. RossAlads Avatar

Now adding a small note in my reading log that this site is one to watch, and a look at silverlaneemporium reinforced the watch status, the few sites I track deliberately rather than encounter accidentally are sites I expect ongoing returns from and this one has cleared the bar for that elevated tracking based on what I read.

  22. GregoryVew Avatar

Taking the time to read carefully here has been worthwhile for the past hour, and a look at radiantfieldcollective extended the worthwhile reading, the calculation of return on reading time spent is something I do informally and this site has been producing positive returns across multiple sessions during the last week of regular visits and reads.

  23. Williecaree Avatar

Just enjoyed the experience without needing to think about why, and a look at hypergoodszone kept that effortless feeling going, sometimes the best content is invisible in the sense that you forget you are reading until you reach the end and realise time has passed without you noticing it pass naturally.

  24. ChrisDreag Avatar

Most blog writing on this subject reaches for the same handful of arguments and this post avoided them, and a look at futurecartcorner continued the original treatment, content that finds its own path through territory other writers have flattened is content with real authorial energy and this site has plenty of that distinctive energy.

  25. GregoryVew Avatar

Closed the tab and immediately reopened it ten minutes later because I wanted to reread a part, and a stop at radiantfieldcollective drew the same return, content that pulls you back after closing it is doing something well beyond the average and worth marking as exceptional in my mental catalogue of reliable sites.

  29. ChrisDreag Avatar

Honest reaction is that I want to send this to a friend who would benefit from it, and a look at futurecartcorner added more material I will pass along too, the impulse to share is the strongest signal I have for content quality and this site is generating that impulse cleanly across multiple posts.

  30. RossAlads Avatar

In the middle of an otherwise scattered day this post landed as a moment of focus, and a stop at silverlaneemporium extended that focused feeling across more pages, content that anchors a fragmented day rather than contributing to the fragmentation is content with real centring effect and this site is providing that anchoring function for me.

  31. Jesusjax Avatar

Now adjusting my mental model of how the topic fits into the broader landscape, and a look at freshcartstation extended that adjustment, content that affects my structural understanding rather than just my factual knowledge is content with deeper impact and this site is providing those structural updates at a meaningful rate consistently across topics.

  32. SheldonFooky Avatar

I usually skim posts like these but this one held my attention all the way through, and a stop at brightgoodscenter did the same, that is a strong endorsement coming from me because I am usually quick to bounce when content gets repetitive or fails to deliver on its initial promise made in the headline.

After several visits I am now confident this site is one to follow seriously, and a stop at swiftpickcenter reinforced that confidence, the gradual building of trust through repeated quality exposures is the only sustainable way to develop reader loyalty and this site is building that loyalty in me through patient consistent work consistently.

  35. ChrisDreag Avatar

Decided to read more before commenting and the more I read the more I wanted to say something, and a stop at stylishcartcenter pushed that impulse further, when content provokes the urge to participate rather than just consume it is doing something quite specific and worth recognising clearly when it happens during reading.

  37. RossAlads Avatar

Closed the tab with a small sense of finality rather than the usual rushed exit, and a stop at silverlaneemporium produced the same considered closing, when reading ends with deliberate satisfaction rather than impatient skip you know the time was well spent and this site is producing those satisfying endings consistently across what I read.

  38. Jesusjax Avatar

Worth recognising that the post handled a familiar topic without reaching for any of the obvious hot takes, and a stop at freshcartstation continued that fresh treatment, sites that find new angles on subjects others have exhausted are sites worth following carefully and this one has clearly developed that exploratory instinct through patient practice.

  39. GlennTit Avatar

Just want to acknowledge that the writing here is doing something right, and a quick visit to royalgoodsarena confirmed the same standards run across the broader site, recognising good work is something I try to do when I find it because the alternative is silence and silence rewards mediocrity.
